Classes

Acro / Tumbling
Acro is centered on fundamental acrobatic technique to increase flexibility, strength, balance, coordination, endurance, timing, body awareness, self-discipline, and confidence. Classes focus on proper hand placement and body alignment with emphasis on the muscles and flexibility required to perform proper technique.

Ballet
Ballet dance is generally accepted all over the world as one of the most artistic forms of dance entertainment cherished by people of all ages Ballet is said to be a combination of choreography and art, scenic design, lighting, costume, graceful movements and usually solemn music.

Conditioning
Dance conditioning is a practice that focuses on strengthening, toning, and stretching different parts of the body. Within the different genres of dance, students use a plethora of body parts and muscles.

Contemporary
Contemporary dance is known for its versatility and creativity. It allows the use of a range of techniques and styles which result in an expressive use of the body as an art formation through rhythm, in space. It results in movement which involves the display of lines of energy in a dance style that is grounded, in contrast to the lightness of ballet. It uses the gravity and the swing of the body to create fluid movements using more release, ease, and freedom of design than traditional dance.

Hip Hop
This high-energy fun, funky class is the pinnacle of self-expression. A dance style originating in the 80’s, when street dancers challenged one another to dance-offs. Combinations are rhythmic and lively, with choreographic challenge, style explorations (popping, locking, waving, gliding, etc.), and freestyle circles. Hip-Hop is set to a strong, contemporary beat, builds stamina,emphasizes body isolations, attitude, coordination, free-style movement, and rhythm.

Jazz
Conceived here in the U.S. and influenced by the musical styles of each decade. Jazz allows a wide freedom of expression. The class provides a progressive system of exercises for physical toning, strengthening, isolations and placement.

Lyrical
Lyrical is very expressive, and sometimes an “abstract” contemporary dance, however, lyrical also, often interprets the feelings inspired by the melodies and lyrics of today’s inspirational songs. Lyrical dance combines techniques of classical ballet and modern dance with current forms of popular dance. Classes include warm up, isolations, stretches, across the floor progressions, and choreography combinations.

Musical Theatre
Musical Theatre is the fusion of singing, dancing, and acting with performance on stage. These classes are for dancers who like the spotlight, drama, singing, and telling a story through dance.

Personalized Choreography
The choreographer creates and plans the routines for performers to play out, usually for solos and duets, to music or to evoke some sort of idea in the heads of the audience.

Pre-Ballet/Creative Movement
An introduction to ballet with beginning development of ballet concepts including turn out, coordination and spatial awareness. Students will begin positions of the feet, and introductory movement vocabulary.

Tap
A fun form of dance wherein rhythmic sounds are created by the feet. Important to the all-round dancer it is an excellent means of increasing coordination of the mind and body. Tap also develops a sense of rhythm and timing which is essential to the development of every style of dance.

Pointe
Pointe technique encompasses both the mechanical and artistic aspects of pointe work. In particular, it is concerned with body alignment, placement of the feet and the manner in which a dancer transitions to and from en pointe. A dancer is said to have "good" or "proper" technique when in conformance with the best practices of pointe technique, which in turn are generally referred to as proper technique.
